Update July

Happy Independence Day! Hope everyone has a good view of the fireworks this weekend!

Baby Update

I passed the 3 hour glucose test with flying colors! No gestational diabetes for this Kidd! But...it turns out that my ligaments are a little softer than usually is the case in pregnancy. I pulled a ligament that connects my left inner leg to my pelvic bone while helping Michael put the pool back together last night. I went to the doctor and there is no cause for concern. It is a debilitating sort of pain, and the doctor has prescribed Flexeril and I may end up with some physical therapy if that doesn't help. Meantime, I have a wonderful husband helping me get around and get things done. No more weed-whacking for me this summer though! I will be taking it much easier for the rest of the pregnancy! :)

Party Update

Hopefully everyone has received their invitation for the party on August 7. We hope that you are all able to come and celebrate with us! It may be the last big shindig we put on for awhile! Special thanks to Susanne for sending the baby shower game ideas! My friend Lisa and I aren't exactly experienced with baby showers, so we appreciate the help, and we are confident it will be a fun time! Also, a slight amendment to the invitation for the boys...we are thinking that the first weekend in August may be a little on the hot and muggy side...so we are converting the downstairs room into a media playroom for them! So they can watch Top Gear and play XBox inside with A/C!

Career News!

Adrien got the promotion! He is now THE manager for the Murphysboro Rural King store! Congratulations little brother! We are so proud of you!

ARF

Looks like Virginia and Greg had a successful trip to San Antonio and back. It was great to be able to follow their trip on Facebook and Twitter. Congratulations on saving those cute puppies! We hope they all find nice loving homes in New England! Our Lucas was brought to New England through a similar operation from out of state, and we can not imagine our lives without him. Update

As our family becomes larger, it is harder to stay connected with everyone. Hopefully, we can provide more regular updates here to share with each other!

Baby Girl Kidd
The past few months have been exciting for Michael and I. We are entering our 28th week of our pregnancy. We are still evaluating names for our baby girl.

Aeryn (after the character Aeryn Sun in Farscape)
Morgan (for Morgan Le Fay (sorceress in King Arthur lore and character on Stargate SG-1)
Zoe (for the character Zoe Washburn in Firefly and Zoe Carter on Eureka)

I got a call yesterday that my 1 hour glucose screening test results came back a couple points high. So they want me to take the 3 hour test! The test is especially icky when you are pregnant and are hungry all the time! I have to cut down on my sugar intake for 3 days, fast the morning of the test, and then they give me this none too tasty orange beverage I have to suck down really quick. Then they will draw blood at different intervals for 3 hours to check my glucose levels. If those results come back high, it means I've developed gestational diabetes. There are several risks to the baby if that's the case, so I should cut back on the sweets now anyway! Otherwise all is good on the baby front. We are fully furnished and have about 80% of the stuff we will need for the baby's arrival thanks to lots of generous and kind donations! After pestering from some of my friends, I did start up a baby registry at target. For those experienced parents, please take a look and let me know if I missed anything before I give it to the public!

Michael's Travels

Michael just returned from South Africa where he was working with Cisco (on a $6 million deal) to use their telepresence equipment for broadcast on ESPN. So far the project has been a rousing success, and he was able to get everything in tip top shape before coming home. Check out some of the pictures of his swank hotel here:

Michael has another trip (this time stateside!) to Philadelphia on July 6-7 to meet with some Comcast folks. He is going to drive down with a co-worker. This will be a good test run of the same drive we are making on August 22 for the LiveSTRONG challenge.

Greg and Virginia

Greg and Virginia made it safely back to CT. They had a long drive from Texas with a huge UHaul. They are staying in Lakeville with Virginia's mother. Greg was able to put up a fence really quick to service as a puppy haven! They intend to make several trips back to San Antonio to bring more rescue dogs back to CT for a better shot at adoption. Sunny's New Ride!

My mother finally traded in the old caddy for some more reliable wheels!

Possible Promotion for Adrien!

My brother has just posted for a head manager position at Rural King. He has worked his way up the chain there the past 10 years. Please wish him luck!

Happy Birthday!

Happenings in Collinsville

This weekend is the Strawberry Festival in Collinsville. Some local churches have huge tag sales and sell local grown strawberries a la Strawberry Shortcake! (not that I get any...) Call me if you are interested in attending one of the events. There's one on Saturday and Sunday.

Until next time, stay out of trouble and keep in touch! If you have news that you would like in our next update, please shoot me an email!
